Lincoln Shines the Spotlight on Jesus
Posted on January 07, 2019
After 20 years as a school, LCS has a new mission: Introduce families to the real Jesus and help them identify their next step. This mission clearly defines what LCS aims to do in the hearts of those in the classroom, hallways, competitive arenas, and in the community.
Aristotle said, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”
At Lincoln, administrators, teachers, and staff model what it means to educate the heart: Know God, Grow in Freedom, Discover Purpose, and Go Make a Difference.
Students understand that teachers care first and foremost about them as individuals. They teach kids not subjects.
A sophomore student noted that LCS is not just a private school; it’s truly a place where students are introduced to the real Jesus, so they can grow in their personal relationship with Him. Since coming to LCS, this student has developed meaningful friendships and created memories while making a difference in the lives of others.
A junior student wants others to know that LCS is different from public schools in that the focus is not on graduation. LCS is focused on preparing students for life after school by making sure they build a lasting relationship with God while also having strong integrity that will carry them through the rest of their lives.
A senior student said that Lincoln has a great community of kids where it is easy to find friends and get involved with extracurricular activities. Also, the school and church are well-connected, so it provides a great support system for students spiritually and emotionally.
As strongly as we emphasize educating the heart, we work to equally emphasize educating the mind. Having produced a Gates Millennium Scholar, National Merit Scholar, and 34 OSSAA academic state championships over the past 10 years, including two (volleyball and football) this year so far, LCS places great emphasis on doing everything with excellence. LCS academics create opportunities for students to take their next step with confidence, whether in ministry, career, or college.
In addition to academic achievements, LCS competes well in extracurriculars, both in athletics and the arts.
- First District Congressional Art Winner
- All-State Musician
- All-State Vocalist
- All-State Athletes
- Top Ten One-Act Actors
Yes, LCS does have outstanding sports and academic programs, but where we shine the brightest is our goal of introducing students to the real Jesus, and that’s evident every day students walk through the doors and the next steps they take in life.
The spotlight shines brightly. We welcome the next LCS family to the Spotlight.
